This image is FREE to use – King James II (Ryan McMahon) attacks William the 8th Earl of Douglas (Jordan Evans) at Stirling Castle. On 22 February 1452 one of Scotlandâ??s most infamous murders took place at Stirling Castle when James II and his men stabbed the Earl 26 times before throwing him from the window to the gardens below. To mark the anniversary of the murder Stirling Castle will be host a series of special tours from 21-23 February which looks at the build-up to this fateful event and the fall-out from it. The tour – which is included in admission to the castle – will end in the Douglas Room of the Regimental Museum where participants can access the normally closed-off window from which the Earlâ??s body is said to have been thrown – for further information please contact Alice Wyllie (Media & PR Officer Historic Scotland) on 0131 668 8603 or 07920 768 096 and at Alice.Wyllie@scotland.gsi.gov.uk – picture by Donald MacLeod â?? 13.02.14 â?? 07702 319 738 â?? clanmacleod@btinternet.com â?? www.donald-macleod.com
