We caught up with Lisa from Powder Design Limited to discover more about what’s on trend at the moment. She has filled us in on all the latest on style, colours and sunglasses. We felt this was a fitting topic for the year that puts the spotlight on innovation, architecture and design across Scotland.
Here’s what Lisa has to say:
Where do you get your inspiration for your design concepts?
Inspiration for Powder designs can come from anywhere at any time – that’s why I always carry a small sketch pad and pencil with me. Anything from spotting a patch of wild flowers to the colour combinations from illustrations.
What is your favourite element of the design process?
Without a doubt the first flash of inspiration for the new season ahead. It tends to open the flood gates for the full range which can be up to 250 products. At that point I’ll visualise the full range in store, it really helps me to get the feel of the collection and to pull together styles and detailing. Also adding the all-important ‘accent colours’ to complete the look.
Which item is your favourite? And why?
Our new Britt sunglasses in Mocha! This is my first collection of sunglasses and I’m in love with them and their gorgeous orange cases. They sum up Powder’s sense of fun and use of colour – everyone is going crazy for them.
What style advice would you give to our visitors who are attending In Vogue at Stirling Castle?
Styling is my favourite thing in the whole world. Women should feel free to have fun with their wardrobe, experimenting with new looks and wear what suits them, not necessarily what’s in magazines. And of course a touch of Renaissance bling. But of course, in true Powder Designs style, embrace colour at every opportunity.
Get ready to strike a pose on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May at In Vogue in the magnificent Stirling Castle – it’ll be the best fashion show in centuries.
Powder design items are available from the Palace Gift Shop – make sure you stop by for this season must have accessories.
